Super Bowl LII and Super Fun Eats

Hiyo!

Many delicious foods were eaten this weekend.

Saturday started with a stroll to breakfast at one of our local joints, C&M Café. Their Basic Eggsential Breakfast Sandwich is an over easy egg, Havarti cheese and a choice of bacon / avo / sausage + light mayo. We are mayo purists, so “light” is sacrilege. Their chili aioli is the real deal though, so Chris adds it to his sandwich. Every time. The zing of the chili makes the sandwich anything but basic.

I woke up with a craving for cream cheese and fulfilled it. I repel judgement, so save it.

That afternoon, we had errands and plans with friends down in OC and couldn’t roll through without a stop at Sgt. Pepperonis. A Modern Times Orderville, a couple of slices and a pinwheel gave us a base for our scheduled arcade bar crawl.

We finally hit Arcade Mission Control in Santa Ana and Barcode in Garden Grove, both of which were packed full of happy people and well-made drinks.

Sunday was our tax appointment, shout out to Paul Rossman! It was also Superbowl Sunday.

As football fans, we can’t go into that kind of stressful situation hungry, so we stopped for a snack before the game. Right down the block is Roy Choi’s famed Kogi Taqueria. A few short rib tacos and we were ready for whatever the big game would bring.

Double caramelized Korean barbecue short rib, a salsa roja made from Korean and Mexican chillies, our cilantro-onion-lime relish and chili soy Kogi slaw -all over two, crisply-griddled corn tortillas.

At least 20 mozzarella sticks were eaten. And, just like that, the weekend and football season were over.
