Republicans, Democrats and Independents Bring Obama To Torchy's Tacos!
Chris here. We had a whole other blog post scheduled, but in the name of "really cool shit happening", it's been postponed to make way for some really cool shit that happened. Just over a week ago, while I was in a cubicle anticipating my tuna salad (hey, you always ask how we stay thin-ish), Stef met the POTUS. That's right, she met the leader of the free world and it happened as a direct result of her hunt for breakfast tacos while in Austin for SXSW. Her travel mate and coworker (Caitlin) had been to Austin before and chose this Torchy's location totally by accident.
As she tells it, she was "waiting for the Monk Special & the Migas" after Torchy's told us on Twitter we didn't have to choose between them, "when secret service swooped in and approached each table, requesting phones be put away because a VIP from The White House would be visiting. Everyone's bags were searched, bodies patted and a canine was brought in to sniff the place down." His lunch order? A bipartisan order of tacos (Republican, Democrat & Independent). Obama then came out to the patio where he shook hands and/or hugged every single individual and asked each table a series of questions regarding their visit to Austin. The final summary- "He was charming, engaged and genuine."
I will admit- I was jealous, both of the POTUS and the tacos. Look at them-
I think the lesson here is clear. Always chase the tacos, because Obama is definitely not in your tupperware of tuna.
